Welcome to my web site. My name is Pat. A diagnosis of cancer is shocking to anyone. I was diagnosed with DCIS( Ductal Carcinoma In Situ) in October 2007 at the age of 48 years old. A routine mammogram resulted in a diagnosis of breast cancer. Thankfully my cancer was caught at a very early stage. Prior to my diagnosis, I never knew a thing about Microcalcifications or DCIS. Before my diagnosis my family doctor continued to monitor the change in my breast. After 3 years a biopsy was schedualed due to a so called Cluster of Microcalcifications. From there on I had 2 surgeries and did 34 radiation treatments. I can only say one thing and that is "Every single one of us needs to understand the importance of our Yearly mammogram. Early Detection does continue to save lifes!!

I believe that everyone's process with cancer is unique. Sometimes things are going to happen that you don't expect. You can't fit yourself into a mold. My advice about the best way to handle something is to look at it positively. I looked at my cancer as a blessing because it has taught me more about myself. It has also allowed me to raise awareness that cancer is "SURVIVABLE". I feel fortunate to have the opportunity through my web site to educate women on what I have learneed about breast cancer /DCIS. Women think breast cancer is after 40 and hereditary or that you must feel a lump for breast cancer, but that's not the truth. I encourage all women to consider getting screened, regardless of their age or family history. Over 60,000 women are diagnosed yearly , in the USA alone with DCIS.

PLEASE, if you haven't had your yearly mammogram, or if you never had a mammogram and should have, PLEASE make your appointment today.
